Got hit by a phishing scam while sitting in a Starbucks in Austin back in 2019

I was waiting for my coffee and clicked a link in an email that looked like it was from my bank. It asked for my password and I typed it in without thinking twice. By the time I finished my latte, someone had drained $340 from my account. Have you ever fallen for something that obvious and felt stupid about it after?

Used to think I was too careful for that, but $340 is a cheap lesson to learn otherwise.

Man that sucks, I really feel for you. I got hit by something similar back in 2017 with a fake Amazon order confirmation email. I was half asleep and clicked the link, put in my credit card info to "cancel" the order. Lost about $200 before I caught it. The bank gave me the money back eventually but man did I feel like an idiot staring at my phone in bed that morning. It happens to the best of us, especially when you're just going through the motions of your day.
