Can we talk about how many people still use 'password123'?

My cousin's kid told me his school login was that exact phrase, which made me check my own old accounts. Anyone have a good, simple method for making people actually change their default passwords?

Look, my old email password was literally "monkey" for like a decade. I only changed it after my bank account got weird. So maybe we're not the best people to ask for advice. The trick is making the new password easy to remember but hard to guess, like your grandma's old phone number plus the name of your first pet.

Seriously, is it that big of a deal for a kid's school account? It's not like they're guarding state secrets. Most people just want to log in and get on with their day without a whole security quiz. Forcing everyone to change passwords just makes them write it on a sticky note anyway. The whole thing feels like making a problem where there isn't one for regular folks.
