Showerthought: I wasted $60 on the cruise ship's unlimited soda package and barely touched it
Tbh I used to think the soda package was a no brainer on cruises, but on our 7 night trip out of Miami last month I paid about $60 for the unlimited one and probably drank 4 root beers the whole time. What convinced me it was a waste was simple: the free iced tea and lemonade at the buffet were fine, and I was off the ship in port most days anyway. The soda machines were also closed at night, which nobody warned me about, so I was stuck paying for cans at the bar after 10pm. I did the math after we got home and it worked out to like $15 a soda. Now I just bring a few cans in my carry on and skip the package entirely. Has anyone actually come out ahead on one of these drink packages, or is it a trap for everyone?
