Wasted $150 on a "security camera" that did nothing

I bought this fancy night vision camera off a local ad last month for $150. The guy said it could see in the dark from 50 feet away, but it just showed blurry shapes. I set it up pointing at my creepy neighbor's yard after I saw him digging at 3 AM. Turns out the camera only records when it feels like it, and the app crashes every time I try to check footage. Total waste of money and I still have no idea what he was burying out there. Has anyone else gotten burned by overhyped camera gear?

If the guy digs up last year's pet hamster I'm going to be pretty upset. Unless he's planting a new one, then I'm just confused.
