Vent: my neighbor put a life-sized scarecrow in MY driveway to keep me away

Two weeks ago at 6 AM in Tulsa, my neighbor Larry set up a full-size scarecrow with my old hoodie on it right behind my car, so I nearly screamed when I went to leave for work. He told me it was to "scare off the raccoons that keep digging in his trash," but the thing was facing my front door, not his bins. Has anyone else had a neighbor use their stuff without asking, or am I justified in being weirded out here?

Whoa, that is seriously creepy, not just weirded out, you are totally justified. It’s one thing to borrow a rake without asking, but putting your personal hoodie on a fake person and parking it in YOUR driveway is a whole other level of boundary crossing. I had a neighbor once take my garden hose off my spigot in the middle of the night to fill up their pool, and when I asked about it, they acted like I was crazy for being annoyed. But this is way worse because it’s personal, it’s about YOUR stuff and YOUR space, and it’s designed to scare you, not raccoons. Larry is basically telling you he doesn’t respect your driveway or your things, and the fact he did it so early in the morning makes it feel deliberate. I’d be keeping my porch light on and maybe invest in a camera, because that’s not normal neighbor behavior, that’s just plain unsettling.
