Pro tip: my mail carrier Rosa said to never let the neighbor 'help' with your mailbox, and she was dead right
So about a month ago my neighbor Gary from two doors down kept bugging me about my leaning mailbox post. He said he had a post hole digger and a bag of quickrete left over and could fix it in an afternoon for free. My mail carrier Rosa, who has run this route for 19 years, pulled up while he was measuring and quietly told me not to let him touch it. She said every box on her route that Gary has 'fixed' ends up facing the wrong way or too high for her truck, and one lady on Oak Street had to chase him off twice. I brushed it off because free is free, and he did it that Saturday. Two days later my mail quit showing up. Turns out he set the post so the box opening faced my front door instead of the street, and Rosa can't reach it without getting out of the truck. I had to hold my mail at the post office on 5th for 11 days while I dug the post back out myself. Rosa just shook her head at me and said 'told you.' Has anyone else had a neighbor 'fix' something and make it way worse? I need to know I'm not the only sucker out here.
