Old neighbor lady used to leave out bowls of what I thought was milk for strays

Took me six months to realize she was leaving out bowls of bleach water to keep raccoons away, and I only figured it out when I saw her refill one and smelled it clear across the fence one Tuesday afternoon.

Man that's rough. Had a similar thing happen with my aunt. She used to put out these little bowls of what looked like water for stray cats but it was actually just straight ammonia. Took me way too long to figure out why the cats stopped coming around. What finally worked for me was convincing her to switch to cheap wet cat food mixed with water instead. That kept the strays fed and the raccoons didn't care for it as much because they'd rather go for the dry stuff in someone else's yard. Plus it didn't smell like a chemical factory. Maybe see if you can get her to try something like that.

Raccoons actually love wet cat food even more than dry, so that might not work like you think.
