My retired neighbor Bob told me to leave my trash can out overnight to test if anyone was stealing trash bags, and three days later I caught the guy from two streets over red-handed with my recycling.

Has anyone else had a neighbor give them weirdly specific advice that actually solved a mystery you didn't know you had?

Honestly, I'd be questioning if this was really worth all the effort. Like, okay, you caught a guy taking your recycling. Is that really a big deal? In my experience, most people who take random trash bags are just looking for cans or maybe some scrap metal. Unless he was doing something seriously creepy, I'd probably just shrug it off and put my bin out later.
