My neighbor's house went from normal to boarded up in 2 weeks

I live in a quiet cul-de-sac in Tulsa and the guy next door was always friendly, kept his lawn neat, waved when I got home from night shifts. Then about a month ago I noticed his blinds stayed closed all day, which was odd because he worked from home. Within a week there were two different pickup trucks parked in his driveway at all hours, coming and going at 2 AM. Now the windows are covered with plywood and I saw a sheriff's deputy knock on his door twice last week. Anyone else had a neighbor suddenly go dark like that and know what might be happening?

My cousin had something real similar happen down in Broken Arrow a few years back... his neighbor went from normal to full on boarded up in like a week and a half. The guy was a total recluse after that, never saw him outside again. Turned out he got mixed up with some heavy debt collectors and a shady payday loan operation that was calling in favors with the wrong people. The trucks at all hours were probably runners or muscle stopping by to collect or threaten him. I don't know what happened to the guy finally, but the house sat empty for almost a year before a realtor sold it.
