Just realized my neighbor's midnight composting wasn't gardening at all
For about 8 months last year, I thought my neighbor Gary was just really into composting at odd hours. He'd be out in his backyard around 2 AM with a shovel and a headlamp, always near that one corner by the fence. Last Tuesday I finally got curious enough to peek through a gap in the boards. Turns out he wasn't turning soil, he was burying old dolls and mannequin parts back there. I counted at least 7 partial arms and legs sticking out of the ground. When I asked him about it the next morning, he just smiled and said 'they need to rest too.' Anyone else have a neighbor who treats their yard like a creepy time capsule?

Hold up, gotta say that's a massive leap from burying dolls to calling the cops over it lol.

That whole situation is creepy but honestly not that uncommon. I had a neighbor who was burying old trophies and medals out back because he said they "carried bad energy" from his high school days. Called it "putting the past to rest." Your best bet is to just keep your distance and maybe install a motion light facing his yard. Gary sounds like he might be harmless but you don't want to find out the hard way. If he starts leaving toys on your porch or talking to them through the fence, then it's time to call the non-emergency line.
