Caught my neighbor checking my crawl space at 2 AM last night

I got a ring cam a few months back after my tools kept walking off from the shed. Last night the alert went off and I check the feed, there's my neighbor Larry from three houses down, flashlight in hand, lifting the crawl space door under my front porch. I watched him poke around for a good 5 minutes, then he just walked home. Didn't take anything, didn't knock on my door. This morning I went out and checked, all I found was a weird little clay charm wedged under the edge of the door. Looked like a crude hand with symbols scratched into it. I'm not superstitious but I've never even talked to this guy more than a wave. What the hell would someone put a charm under your house for? Anybody had a neighbor do something this weird?

I read something online a while back about people leaving charms or talismans under houses for some kind of folk protection or curse thing. Supposedly it's an old tradition from certain parts of Europe to keep evil spirits or bad luck away from the home. Maybe your neighbor thinks you've got some kind of negative energy or something and he's trying to fix it without telling you. Still, going on your property at 2 AM without asking is a major red flag no matter what the reason is. I'd be more worried about the not talking part than the charm itself, to be honest. Might be worth a quiet word with another neighbor to see if Larry's done this kind of stuff before.

Oh yeah, the "Larry might be a folk magic practitioner" theory (which honestly sounds like the plot of a weird Netflix documentary I'd totally watch). I'm with you on the whole property trespassing thing being the bigger issue. Like, even if he's trying to ward off evil spirits, sneaking around at 2 AM makes him look more like a creepy guy than a helpful neighbor. Although I gotta admit, I'm kind of curious what the charm looks like. Probably something weird like a dead mouse in a jar or something, which is way more unsettling than just a plain old garden gnome.
