Writing prompts from apps are taking over my group.
Any advice for more personal prompt sources?

Yeah I've seen that happen before. Tell your group to keep a tiny notebook and write down one weird thing they see or hear each day, then use that as a prompt next time. App stuff can work if you twist it, but real life gives you better raw material. My best prompt last month was just a piece of a conversation I overheard at the hardware store. It's all about pulling from what's already around you.

Actually, those app prompts might not be as bad as you think. They often give a solid starting point that anyone can work from. The trick is to add your own voice to them instead of just following them straight.

My grandma's recipe box has cards stained with butter and sugar. It shows how personal touches beat generic plans every time. I get my best writing ideas from things like grocery lists or bus stop chats. Those app prompts feel too clean, like they miss the real mess of life. Try asking your group to use a memory from last week as a starter instead.
