Why does nobody talk about how a 10 minute freewrite beats a perfect outline?
My writing group in Dayton kept telling me to outline every scene before drafting, but after 3 months of dead outlines I flipped it, freewriting for 10 minutes then pulling the outline out of that mess, which is why I now think the prompt itself matters way less than just getting words on the page first.
