Why does every prompt have to be a whole novel setup?

I keep seeing prompts in this community that are basically a full chapter of backstory with a question tacked on at the end, like nobody just needs a simple starting point. Last week I counted 5 prompts in a row that had more worldbuilding than some short stories I've read. Am I the only one who just wants a single weird what-if without having to read a page of lore first?

Those prompts with the huge lore dumps usually aren't looking for a discussion, they're looking for someone to write their story for them. Just give me the weird idea and let me run with it.
