The prompt that broke my writing group in 3 days
Someone posted a prompt about writing from a ghost's perspective during a home renovation. By day two half the submissions were about haunted power tools and now nobody can take a normal prompt seriously. Has anyone else had a single prompt derail your whole group's vibe?

Read a post on Reddit where someone floated "write from the perspective of a haunted toaster" and their group never recovered. Suddenly every prompt was a joke about possessed appliances.

Gotta push back a little on that "haunted toaster" thing... it's actually from a writing prompt subreddit from like 2018, not a regular Reddit post. I remember seeing it blow up in r/WritingPrompts where someone posted "You are a haunted toaster" and it got a ton of upvotes. The group thing sounds like a tabletop RPG story someone made up later, mixing up two different communities. That subreddit has weird prompts all the time, it's kind of their whole deal.
