Stuck between a dark fantasy and a cozy mystery for my next short story

I spent three hours last night trying to decide. Dark fantasy lets me write about a cursed forest and a girl with iron teeth. Cozy mystery is safer, set in a small bakery with a talking cat. I went with the fantasy, wrote 500 words, and now I'm stuck on how to kill off a character without it being too gory. Anyone else hit a wall after choosing the bigger idea?

Tbh the cozy mystery sounds like the smarter play here. Dark fantasy is a trap where you're already stressing about gore levels and pacing. That talking cat bakery idea has built in charm and you can crank out 500 words without hitting a wall. Iron teeth and cursed forests sound cool on paper but you're already stuck on execution. Cozy mysteries practically write themselves because the stakes are lower and you can focus on dialogue and fun characters instead of figuring out how to kill someone off without making it messy.
