Rant: random word generators gave my whole writing group the same boring prompts
Every Friday my writing group of 6 people pulls prompts from those free online generators, and last week 4 of us showed up with almost the same story about a lost letter. So I started flipping to a random page in my old paperback dictionary, stabbing my finger down, and writing down whatever word I hit plus the next one. First try gave me "harbor" and "mustard," and I wrote 900 words that night, more than I had done in the 3 weeks before. Now everyone in the group wants my dictionary. What weird offline thing do you use to get prompt ideas when the usual generators feel dead?
