Overheard my bus driver say 'everyone has a story' while kicking a guy off

Last Tuesday on the 47 bus this guy was yelling at the driver about being late for work. The driver just said 'everyone has a story' real quiet before telling him to get off. Made me think about how I never know what's going on in someone else's life when I'm rushing around. Anybody else ever get a random line from a stranger that stuck with you?

Man, I gotta disagree a little bit here. Sometimes people hide behind words like that to avoid actually dealing with the situation. That driver was probably tired and just wanted the guy gone, not dropping some deep wisdom. Everyone does have a story, sure, but that doesn't mean everyone gets a free pass to act the way they want in public. If that guy was late and yelling at the driver, he made his own choices that led to getting kicked off. The driver's line sounds nice, but in practice it's just a way to shut things down without taking responsibility. You can be understanding and still hold people accountable for their actions.

Heard a cashier at a grocery store once tell a screaming customer "we're all just trying to get home" and it hit me way harder than it should have. Really makes you wonder what everyone's carrying around in their head all day.
