My writing teacher said to cut the first three pages of my story, and she was right

She told me my real opening was on page four, and after I deleted the start, the whole piece just clicked into place. It felt scary to lose over a thousand words, but the story got way better without that slow intro. Has anyone else gotten advice that seemed harsh but totally fixed a project?

Cut three whole pages? That's brutal. I'd be sweating bullets deleting that much work. Your teacher must have seen something really obvious that you missed.
