I used to think writing prompts had to be weird and artsy, then a library workshop in Boise changed my mind
Last month I sat in on a free writing workshop at the Boise library and the leader handed out a prompt that was just a plain sentence about a guy returning a shopping cart. I always figured good prompts needed to be strange or poetic, but watching 12 people write totally different stories from that one boring line made me get it. So what's the most ordinary prompt you've ever seen someone turn into something great?
