Had to pick between two endings for my fantasy novel, went with the weird one
I spent three days debating if my main character should destroy the magic crystal or keep it. I went with keeping it, and now my beta reader at the coffee shop on Elm Street says she wants to throw the book across the room. Anyone else ever pick a choice that made your readers mad but felt right?

oh man, i totally get this... i had a scene where my main character let the villain get away on purpose and my writing group basically groaned out loud. but like, it just felt wrong to have them catch him right then, you know? sometimes you gotta trust that weird gut feeling even if it makes people mad in the moment. the coffee shop beta reader might come around once she sees where it goes... or she might not, but it's your story at the end of the day.
