Dropped $60 on a 'premium' writing app I never use
Saw all these ads on Instagram for this minimalist writing tool called something like Novlr. Bought the yearly plan because i thought it would make me actually finish a story. Its been 8 months and I opened it twice. The first time the font looked weird and the second time I just went back to Google Docs. Stick with what works, dont fall for the hype. Anyone else got a fancy app they regret buying?

Oh man, I did the exact same thing with Ulysses back in 2019 - paid for a whole year and barely touched it. I ended up just using the Notes app on my phone and that's where I've written two full manuscripts since.

Oh I totally get that, @carter.hugo, but I gotta gently push back on the Notes app thing. I mean, I tried using it for a manuscript once and lost a whole chapter when my phone decided to sync weirdly across devices. Maybe it's just me but I feel like Notes can be risky for longform stuff unless you're really careful with backups. I ended up switching to Google Docs because it autosaves and I can access it from my laptop too. But hey, if you've written two full manuscripts in there, you're clearly doing something right that I couldn't figure out.
