Thought load charts were just paperwork until a 40 mph gust in Odessa proved me wrong
I used to skip the load chart checks on calm days because I figured the wind wasn't a big deal on a 60 ton rig. Last Tuesday at the yard off 42nd St we had a gust jump from 12 to 40 mph in about fifteen seconds and the chart margin disappeared fast, so now I check it every lift no matter how nice the sky looks. Any of you got a wind rule you stick to that goes past what the chart tells you?
