Thought anti-two-block was just a fancy add-on until a near miss in Tulsa changed my tune
A guy I sub for kept telling me to run the anti-two-block system on his 60 ton, and I figured it was just more beeping to ignore. Then one afternoon in Tulsa I was booming down fast with a headache ball and heard the alarm go off about a foot before things got ugly. Turns out I had drifted the block right up near the sheave and never felt a thing through the seat. Now I actually test the thing every morning and it has caught two sloppy moments since. Anyone else run one of these or do you still trust your gut on block height?
So what happens when that sensor craps out on you and you start leaning on it like a crutch? I get the close call part, but I'd rather keep my eyes on the block and use the alarm as a backup, not the other way around.
