The windiest Tuesday I ever worked, down at the Port of Long Beach
Last month we had a day where gusts hit 35 knots steady, and I was lifting 12 ton concrete barriers off a barge. I had to cut my swing radius in half and use the tagline crew way more than usual, but the real killer was the dust blowing into my load cell display. Had to wipe the screen every five minutes, and one barrier swung a little wild before I corrected. Has anyone else dealt with that kind of crosswind on a barge lift, and do you have a trick for keeping the readout clear?
