That $40 load cell I bought off Amazon last year saved my paychecks after a rough drop in Houston

I spent 40 bucks on a wireless load cell after my foreman warned me about overloading, and it paid for itself when I lifted a 15-ton precast panel that was 2 tons over the tag, so has anyone else had a cheap tool save them from a bad day at the site?

Wait, you lifted a 15-ton panel that was actually 17 tons? That's nuts, man. That load cell just saved you from a potential collapse or a trip to the ER. My cheap Amazon scale paid for itself in a single crane lift too, no joke.

Oh the cheap Amazon scale thing is actually kind of a myth with load cells. Honestly those cheap ones can drift like crazy when they get hot or cold. The real load cells that are certified and calibrated are way more reliable because they have temperature compensation built in. I learned that the hard way when my cheap one showed 14,500 pounds and the crane's built in sensor showed 16,200. That's a huge difference when you're lifting something heavy. Tbh I'd rather trust a unit that's been tested and has a calibration cert than a random Amazon one. Not saying yours didn't work for you, just that it's risky to rely on them for critical lifts.
