Switched from a two-block to a single line for a tight lift in St. Louis and it actually went smoother

Had a job last Tuesday where we needed to set a heavy AC unit on a narrow rooftop downtown. I was sure we needed a two-block setup for the extra control, so we rigged it that way. But the swing was so tight between two other buildings that the second block kept getting hung up. My spotter, Mike, said to try it with just the main hook and a single line to simplify it. We did, and with slower, smaller moves, the unit went up and over clean in one shot. I guess sometimes less gear really is more. Anyone else run into a spot where simplifying the rigging was the better call?

Totally, overcomplicating the lift is an easy trap to fall into.

Right? Sometimes you just gotta pick it up and put it down... all the extra cues and adjustments just mess with your head.
