Shoutout to my first smooth tandem lift on a Lattice boom in Ohio

Used to always second-guess myself with hand signals on big tandem lifts, especially with my old Grove. Last week on a job near Columbus, my partner and I lifted a 40-ton HVAC unit without a single wobble. I finally trusted the hand signals and our rhythm, and the foreman even said it was the cleanest pick he's seen. Any of you guys have a moment where the communication just clicked?

Why was that particular foreman's praise the thing that made it stick for you? I'm curious because sometimes the best feedback just slides off and other times it lands like a brick. For me it was always about trusting the other guy's timing more than my own instincts. Once I stopped trying to anticipate and just followed the count, everything smoothed out. How long did it take you to get past the second-guessing phase on the hand signals? Because that part always felt like the hardest part for me.

Stopped trying to guess where the load was going and started watching his eyes instead of his hands. Once I locked in on his face for timing cues and just moved when he moved, everything changed. It took me about three months of doing picks every week before I stopped hesitating. Did your partner have any tricks to help you nail that rhythm faster?
