PSA: Watch your swing radius around parking lots

Saw a guy at a job site in Austin last month get too casual with his boom swing and clipped a brand new F-150 mirror. Cost the company $1,200 just for the repair. Ever since then I tie off a flag line to mark the danger zone, and it's saved me twice already. Anyone else add extra steps after a close call?

Flagging the danger zone is smart but make sure you're using the right kind of line for it. Standard flagging tape will break if a boom runs into it, which leaves no real warning for the next guy. You want something like polypropylene rope or a heavy duty streamer that won't just snap off.

Polypropylene rope has been my go to for a few years now. I use the bright orange stuff and tie it off across the face of any drop offs or floor openings. Holds up way better than tape when equipment gets bumped into it, and the color stays visible even after a few months of sun. One thing I found is to double knot the ends so they don't work loose over time.
