Old timer told me "never swing a load over the cab" and I ignored it once
I was running a 50 ton Grove on a site near Portland last Tuesday and figured I could fudge it a few feet to save time. Ended up with a 4 foot I-beam swinging right into the rear window glass, $800 mistake. Anyone else learn a hard lesson from ignoring the simple rules?

$800 is steep but I gotta say this one is on you not the old timer. Im with @the_dylan on this one but for a different reason honestly. Those old timers have seen enough accidents to know the shortcuts just arent worth it. I've been running cranes for about 6 years now and I still listen to the crusty guys whove been doing it since the 80s. They dont say stuff to be mean or boss you around, they say it cause theyve already paid that dumb tax themselves. Next time just take the extra 5 minutes to reposition and save yourself the hassle. Your wallet and your stress levels will thank you later.
