Load spun on me at a job site in Austin, nearly took out a fence

I was setting a steel beam on a tight residential lot last Tuesday, and the wind caught the tagline just as I swung over the neighbor's property line. The load twisted maybe 30 degrees before I could brake, and it clipped the top of a cedar fence, splitting two boards. I lowered everything down and checked the rigging, but the homeowner came out yelling about the damage, so how do you handle a customer when it's clearly your fault and not the equipment?
