I lifted a 12,000 pound beam with a 20 foot radius last week and it felt like nothing

I was on a site in Tacoma, moving a big steel beam for a new warehouse. My boss told me to check the chart, and it said my crane's limit was 11,500 pounds at that radius. I did my math twice, loaded it slow, and the load moment indicator never even hit the yellow. It was so smooth I had to double-check the scale ticket. Has anyone else been surprised by how much extra capacity you really have when you take your time on the setup?

Seen guys get fired for that exact attitude. The yellow zone is there for a reason.
