Called BS on a guy saying his load indicator saved his boom last week

He was lifting a precast panel near the highway on I-95 and said the indicator started screaming at 80% capacity. I figured he was just cautious. Then I saw the actual lift plan and the panel was 400 lbs over what his chart said for that radius. Guy with 20 years experience misread the tag. If he didn't have that indicator he'd be picking steel out of traffic. Anyone else ever had a near miss that made you trust the electronics more than you used to?

Wait, 400 pounds over? On a highway pick? That's insane. I can't believe that guy just walked away from that.

And you just know he was probably running late or something, trying to make up time. Those heavy pickups can really get away from you if you're not paying close attention, especially when you've got that much extra weight in the bed. It's a good reminder for all of us to double-check our loads before we head out, no matter how much of a hurry we're in. I'm just glad nobody got hurt, that could have been a whole lot worse.
