Cab talk with an ironworker changed my whole view on hand signals
Was on a high rise job in Denver last Tuesday. Old iron guy told me he stopped trusting hand signals after a miscommunication nearly dropped a load on his buddy. He said he just uses radios now for everything critical. Any of you guys still fully trust hand signals over radios?

Playing devil's advocate here - he signed up for the job, knew the risks coming in, and took the paycheck just like everyone else. Every single person in that line of work has bad days, but you don't see them walking off the job (well, most of them don't). Sometimes you gotta suck it up and finish what you started, even when it stinks (literally, in this case).
