PSA: stop giving your chickens weird names in Stardew, my kid cried when Lily got eaten
Someone on a forum told me my coop layout was the real problem, the gate sat too far from the barn so animals got stuck outside at night. Moved the gate 3 tiles closer, added a second fence line, and haven't lost a single bird in 40 in-game hours since. Anyone else learn a farm fix the hard way after something sad happened?

That "gate sat too far from the barn" bit was my exact problem too, except mine was the coop door. I put a torch and a path right by the door so I could see at a glance if anyone was still out when I went to bed. Two in game years and nobody's been left outside since.
