Overheard a client say my blowout lasted her 4 days and I almost cried
Been doing hair for about 7 years now and yesterday a regular client told me her blowout from last Friday still had volume on day 4. She said 'I usually wash my hair every other day but yours actually held up.' That hit different because I've been tweaking my round brush technique for like 3 months after watching a class on tension control. I use a small ceramic barrel for her crown area and it made a huge difference. Anyone else have a random compliment that made your whole week?

Wait is that seriously a thing with the ceramic barrel for the crown area? I've been using a standard boar bristle round brush and just accepted that day two is always going to be a little flat unless I really work at it with a curling iron touch up. Now I'm wondering if I've been missing out on some secret technique because that makes total sense - ceramic holds heat way more evenly so you're not fighting hot spots that release tension at weird times. I bet the smaller barrel lets you get right at the root too and really lock in that lift instead of dragging the hair around a bigger brush where you lose control at the crown. I might have to actually look into this for my own wash days because 4 days with volume sounds like a fantasy and I'm honestly jealous.

Four days? That's insane honestly. I've been doing my own hair at home for years and I've never gotten a blowout to last more than maybe 48 hours before it starts looking flat and greasy. She must have some serious skill or that ceramic barrel magic is real. I can't even imagine waking up on day three and still having volume without having to immediately break out the dry shampoo. It's cool that she figured out the whole tension control thing from a class too, that's a level of detail most people would never notice.
