TIL that picking the cheaper compressor at Harbor Freight cost me double in the long run

I had to choose between a $150 Campbell Hausfeld and a $80 Harbor Freight special for my flooring nailer. I went cheap thinking they're all the same, but that HF unit died after 3 months of trim work in a 2,500 sq ft house in Austin. Has anyone else learned this lesson the hard way with air tools?

Man that fire story is WILD but honestly not surprising with those cheap motors. What kind of safety gear were you running when the HF unit was hooked up? Like a shutoff switch or anything? Because I feel like people skip that stuff when they go budget and then end up with a garage bonfire.

Buddy bought the same HF one, it caught fire in his garage.
