TIL that bringing up hollow earth theory at a geology camp got me assigned to dig a really deep hole
The instructor thought it was a joke until I kept going and now I have a pit in my backyard that my dog loves.

Actually my buddy tried something similar with the flat earth society's "find the edge" thing. He got so into proving curvature with a homemade level that he dug a trench across his entire lawn. His wife made him fill it back in, but now their garden has the weirdest irrigation system.

That "homemade level" bit got me. I tried proving the Earth wasn't flat with a laser pointer and a hill a mile away. My results were so bad I just went inside and turned on the TV.
