Something off about the new parking structure downtown
I had to park in the new city garage on 3rd Street last week because my usual lot was full. It's a six level concrete building, opened maybe 4 months ago. The thing that bugged me was how few cars were actually in there, maybe 20 total at 10 AM on a Tuesday. Then I noticed all the cameras at every corner, way more than any other garage I've been in around here. And the exit gates were open, no attendant, no payment machine working. A guy in a vest was just standing by the stairwell watching people. I asked him about paying and he said "don't worry about it," which made me more suspicious. Has anyone else been in that garage and noticed the same setup?

Sounds like one of those pop-up parking setups they run for a few months then vanish, seen it happen before.

Hold on though, is it actually that sketchy? I've seen these lots pop up in a few different towns near me and they seem to run for a whole season at least. Sometimes a smaller operation is just a legit business that doesn't have the cash for a big permanent lot purchase, not a scam. The rates can be way better than the official garages too, which is a huge win if you're just going to a concert for a few hours. I'd take a chance on one of these over paying $40 to park in a concrete box any day lol.
