My GPS rerouted me to a closed bridge in Maine, now I doubt the map
Last Saturday I was driving to Bar Harbor and my phone told me to take a road that turned out to be barricaded with a faded sign from 2019. The bridge behind it had a gap big enough to fit a pickup truck through, and the pavement stopped about 15 feet from the edge. I sat there for 10 minutes wondering if this was a glitch or some kind of local prank, then backed up and took the detour. What bothers me is that two other cars pulled up behind me and just turned around too, like they knew my GPS was lying. Makes me wonder how often these map companies update their data for rural areas. Has anyone else had a navigation fail that made you question the whole system?
