Just realized my neighbor's weird mailbox trick actually stopped package thieves
After 3 months of stolen packages, my neighbor told me to put old pizza boxes in my recycling bin every Tuesday and now nobody's touched a single delivery in 6 weeks, has anyone else tried faking out thieves with decoy garbage?

Tried leaving a box full of old newspapers on my porch once and the mailman just threw it in my bushes.

People used to tell me to do stuff like that and I always thought they were being paranoid or just wasting their time. But honestly, this post made me reconsider the whole thing. It's a cheap trick that doesn't cost anything and if it really works, that's pretty smart. The pizza box idea is perfect because it blends in with normal trash day stuff. Might have to try it myself since we've had two packages go missing this month. Simple solutions like this are usually the best ones.
