Fell for a $300 'proven' UFO photo hoax kit
I bought this package online from a guy who claimed he'd show me how to spot real UFOs with a special filter. Cost me $300 and it was just a cheap lens cover and a link to a YouTube video on faking photos. The filter did nothing but tint my shots blue. I wasted a whole Saturday chasing clouds before I realized it was a scam. Anyone else get burned by these so-called 'investigation' kits?

Did you try asking for your money back? That's rough, but I had a similar thing happen with a "moon rock" detector kit a few years ago... turned out to be a piece of painted concrete and a little magnet. I ended up leaving a bad review on their website and filing a dispute with my credit card company, which actually worked. They gave me a partial refund after I sent pictures of the junk I got. Maybe you could try that route if you paid with plastic... it's worth a shot.

Three weeks exactly is what I waited for a "professional grade" metal detector I ordered from a place called Digger's Paradise. When it finally showed up, the coil was cracked and the display screen had what looked like coffee stains inside it. I took photos of everything (the box, the damage, the serial number on the unit) and filed a chargeback with my bank. They reversed the charge within about 10 business days after I showed them the emails where the company ghosted me. That's the move for sure - credit card companies hate seeing people get scammed like that.
