TIL the difference a magnesium float makes on a hot day
I used a steel darby on a patio pour yesterday when it was 90 degrees, and the surface set up way too fast for a good finish. Switched to my buddy's magnesium float for the last section, and it glided over the concrete without sticking or tearing it up. What's your go-to tool when the weather turns on you?

Oh man, that's the worst. Magnesium is a total game changer in the heat, it just doesn't hold the heat like steel does. I keep a beat up old one in my truck just for days like that. If it's really cooking, I'll even mist the pad a little with water to keep it cooler. Makes all the difference between a decent finish and a rough one.
