TIL that curing concrete wrong cuts your strength by like 50 percent
Picked up a copy of ACI 308 at a garage sale last weekend for three bucks. The little chart in there says if you let the surface dry out for just 6 hours in the first day you lose over half your potential compressive strength. That floored me because I've seen guys walk off a slab after finishing and not wet cure it at all. Makes me wonder how many driveways and warehouse floors out there are basically just crumbling from the inside. How do you guys handle hot weather pours when you can't stay to mist the thing all afternoon?

@oliver_torres4 I've messed with curing compounds before but never really trusted them on a hot day. How do you know the spray is actually sealing the moisture in versus just sitting on top and peeling off? That's what I always worry about. ACI 308 is brutal about the numbers, like you said. I've seen guys walk away from a slab after a morning finish and then it's 95 degrees and windy by noon. Gotta figure half those pours are ticking time bombs.
