Switched from a wood float to a magnesium float on a 2,400 sq ft driveway in Tucson and cut my finish time in half
I used to do every slab with a wood float and just accepted that my arms would be dead by lunch. Last October I was on a 2,400 square foot driveway job in Tucson and the homeowner wanted it done before his kid's birthday party. My lead hand handed me a magnesium float and said just try it for one pass, and I never went back. The mag float pushes the cream around way easier and I finished that whole pour in about 5 hours instead of the 10 it would've taken me before. I still keep a wood float on the truck for small patches and edges, but for big flat work it stays in the toolbox now. Has anyone else made the switch, or do you still swear by wood for everything?
