Spent 6 hours trying to fix a honeycomb patch on a slab in Austin before my foreman showed me you just need a slightly wetter mix

I kept adding dry product thinking it would soak up the moisture but he grabbed a spray bottle and it took 3 minutes to look perfect, has anyone else wasted a whole day on something that simple?

Learned that lesson the hard way framing a window years ago. Kept adding shims trying to get it square until a carpenter pointed out the header was bowed. Fixed it in two minutes with a block and a hammer.

Man I felt that one in my soul. I spent an entire afternoon once shimming a door frame and getting nowhere. Finally called my buddy over and he just looked up, tapped the top plate, and goes "your ceiling is crooked." Sure enough the whole house had settled like three eighths of an inch on one side. Two shims and a prayer later and it closed like a dream. Made me feel like a real genius.

Nothing like finding out the whole house is gaslighting you.
