Rant: Contractor talked down to me about my finish, then a homeowner set me straight

Last Tuesday I was finishing a 1,200 square foot patio in Phoenix and this contractor walks up, says my broom finish looks like a child did it. I about dropped my trowel right there. He claimed he'd been pouring for 20 years and knew better, so I just kept working and ignored him. Then the homeowner, an older lady, came out and said she loved the texture because her dog couldn't slip on it anymore. That hit different, because she didn't care about some perfect smooth look, she cared about how it worked for her life. Has anyone else had a know-it-all talk down to you, only for the actual customer to back you up?
