Question about a lesson from an old timer on a job in Phoenix

He told me I was working the edge too hard, making it weak, and after that I always leave the last foot for a full 30 minutes before I touch it again.

Heard something similar from a guy who did flatwork for years. Said rushing the finish on the edges is how you get spalling and cracks later on. That waiting period lets everything set up right so it doesn't crumble. Makes total sense when you think about it, even if it tests your patience. Good lesson to learn early on.
