Put $600 into a colored concrete job and it faded in 3 months

I took a gamble on a cheaper pigment from a supplier I hadn't used before for a driveway in Austin last spring. The homeowner wanted a dark slate color and I figured I could save them some cash by going with this brand instead of the usual stuff I get from the concrete supply house. Laid it down in April, looked great for a few weeks, then by July it was patchy and washed out like weak tea. Tried talking to the supplier but they blamed the mix or the sealer I used despite me using the same base mix I always do. Now I'm stuck having to either redo the top layer or offer a discount to keep the client happy. Has anyone else had pigment fade like that or did I just get a bad batch?

Did you actually follow the supplier's cure time and sealer instructions exactly or just assume your usual process would work?
