Pro tip: check the control joints on that new pad at the Northgate shopping center before you pour anything near it
I was out running errands near the Northgate shopping center last weekend and walked past the loading dock slab they poured about 8 months ago, and the cracking along it is bad. Looked like they sawed the joints maybe 30 hours after the pour instead of the 6 to 12 you'd want in that heat, and now there's a crack running clean across two of the panels that you can fit a dime in. I'm not a engineer, just been finishing long enough to know what the sun does to a slab in July, so take this with a grain of salt. But if you're bidding anything near there, walk the site first, because the GC is gonna be touchy about joints after this one. Anybody else seen that slab and have a different read on what went wrong?
